Gaither Plantation Tour and Investigation Report

On November 1 st through 3 rd , 2007 East Georgia Paranormal in partnership with the Friends of Gaither held tours and an investigation that were open to the public as a fundraiser to benefit Gaither Plantation. Tours were held in the early evening on November 1 st , 2 nd, and 3 rd . During the tours, small groups were taken through the main house, the “overseers” cabin, and the church. Guests were told stories about experiences had by members of EGP, guests, and those that worked at the plantation as well as the history. Guests were also shown how EGP conducts investigation and use their tools to either prove or disprove paranormal activity. The following is an account of what happened during the tours and investigations.

During the tours many guests had, what they believe to be, paranormal experiences.

In the house numerous people including members of EGP smelled perfume in Cecelia's room. This phenomenon occurred many times over the three day period. Some guests reported a feeling of heaviness at the door leading to the attic. Also a scent of “baked goods” was reported from the kitchen.

In the church, several females reported being touched. This experience brought a couple of them to tears and even required one of them to be assisted out. Several people also felt the chair in the pulpit “vibrate or pulse”. Cold spots or spots of a static like energy were felt by more than 19 guests in various places in the church. At one point a group of 8 people experienced it simultaneously and the anomaly was verified by the use of an EMF meter. A few guests felt a feeling of dread in the doorway of the church and one lady even refused to enter because of a “bad feeling”. On the first night of tours a gentleman and lady claimed they saw a figure of a person move from the edge of the pulpit toward the pews in the dark. The figure made it halfway across the floor before the light was turned back on. When the light came on the figure was not there. It distressed the gentleman when he did not see a person where the figure was.

At 8:00pm on November 3 rd EGP commenced the public investigation of Gaither Plantation.

The following equipment was used by EGP

(Note: Members of the public used their own equipment such as cameras and equipment provided by EGP)

(Note: The infrared cameras and DVR system were not used on this investigation)

The investigators split up into four teams. Each team was sent to one of four sites, these sites were; the house, the cabin, the cemetery, and the church.

Unfortunately, no useable documented evidence has been obtained from audio, video, or pictures submitted by or to EGP.

Although nothing documented was useable as evidence my investigators did have personal experiences. Their accounts are as follows.

(Note: Personal experiences are not documented so EGP does not submit them as evidence of paranormal activity.)

In the house one team experienced a “clear as day” response to one of their questions. The team asked a question from the entryway of the house and heard what they thought sounded like a woman's voice from the top of the stairs. All of the team members heard this and had audio devices running but background noise drowned out the voice. This same team noticed that one of the cabinet doors had opened on the buffet in the dining room. It was documented on video by one of the public investigators but that video has not been submitted to EGP. The team also saw the well handle move. Many members of the team also claimed to have seen the well handle move or rock. Two members of EGP were in the living room collecting firewood from the fireplace when they witnessed one of the chests of drawers move approximately 2 inches to the right.

In the cemetery one team experienced a cold spot.

In the church a couple of EMF readings were taken and some equipment experienced battery drain.

In closing, even though no usable documented evidence was collected EGP still considers Gaither's Plantation a “hot spot” for paranormal activity.
